Richard Sanders Sr.

DELTA - Richard E. Sanders Sr., 54, died Sept. 17, 2001, at his farm near Advance.

Born Oct. 19, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, son of Faye Huey Sanders of Delta and the late Earl John Sanders Jr., he graduated from Delta High School and Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A self-employed farmer who raised row crops and cattle, he was also owner and operator of Quality Metal in Delta.

On Nov. 15, 1968, he married Ruth Jones who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Richard E. Sanders Jr. of Delta; two daughters, Sheila Sanders and Amanda Sanders of Delta; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert and MaDonna Sanders of Whitewater and John Sanders of Delta; two sisters, Phyllis Sanders of Cape Girardeau and Sally Sanders of Sikeston; and two nephews, Aaron Sanders and James Sanders of Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Huey Patrick Sanders.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ron Shrum will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Kenyon Cemetery at Delta.
