Geneva Burgess
SIKESTON - Geneva L. Burgess, 71, died July 9, 2002, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1930, in Crowder, daughter of the late Ed and Bertha Jones McCormick, she was of the Baptist belief.
Her husband, Abraham Lincoln Burgess Sr., preceded her in death in March 1977.
Survivors include: four sons, Abraham Lincoln Burgess Jr. and James Edward Burgess of Sikeston, Dennis Doyle Burgess of Pensacola, Fla., and Ricky Joe Burgess of Bloomfield; two daughters, Jeneth Wilkerson of Puxico and Mary Burgess of Sikeston; two stepsons, Daris Burgess of Sikeston and Lonnie Burgess of Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, Jim Cantrell of Bertrand; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Dennis Lowe, pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Benton, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Teddy Kearby, Rick Moore, Travis McLean, Gene Baysinger, Abraham Burgess III, Terry McCormick and William Adams.
