BERTRAND - Pauletta Hurley Hooper, 71, died at 4:30 a.m. Sept. 6, 2001, at her residence in Bertrand.

Born Dec. 29, 1929, in Bertrand, daughter of the late Ernest and Gladys Spicer Hurley, she had lived in Bertrand all of her life.

In 1949, she married Harold Eugene "Gene" Hooper, who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Bo Hurley; and one sister, Wanda Pullen.

Surviving include: three sons, David Hurley Hooper of Bertrand, Harold "Peanut" Hooper of Gullenburg, Iowa, and Tony Hooper of Benton; three daughters, Becky Boyer of Bertrand, Kelly Brown of Wyatt and Sandy Woodruff of Bardwell, Ky.; one brother, Gene Hurley of Phoenix, Ariz.; six sisters, Evelyn Stricker of Sikeston, Helen Miller of Benton, Donna Williams and Daisy Fuller of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gaye Baker of Bertrand and Sherry Ausbrooks of Bertrand; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Charles Kohlbaker of Bertrand will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bluff Cemetery in Idalia.
