CAPE GIRARDEAU - A Mississippi County woman was sentenced to five years in prison on a felony drug charge.

Monica Wolford, 28, was sentenced to 60 months in prison on one felony count of attempting to manufacture 50 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine. She appeared before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel on Tuesday.

Wolford admitted that on or about Oct. 15, 2000, a consent search was conducted at her residence in East Prairie.

Officers searched the residence and discovered numerous items used in the production of methamphetamine.

Wolford admitted she possessed the items with the intent to produce methamphetamine. More than 100 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine was seized from the residence.

U.S. Attorney Raymond W. Gruender praised the Drug Enforcement Administration, the SEMO Drug Task Force, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Mississippi County Sheriff's Department for their work on the case.
