Phil Waldman
SIKESTON - Ellis Phillip "Phil" Waldman Jr., 76, died Nov. 1, 2001, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 13, 1924, in Sikeston, son of the late Ellis and Martha Thomas Waldman Sr., he was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served as county clerk of Scott County for 16 years. He worked in sales for the Johnson Publishing Company and was a business owner in Osceola, Ark., before retiring.
His former wife and mother of his children, Jeanette Frazier, survives of Sikeston.
In 1977, at Jonesboro, Ark., he married Margarette Jackson who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Fred Durham of Nashville, Tenn., and Beth and John Lowney of Trophy Club, Texas; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Paul and Irene Jackson of Bryan, Texas; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Nora Anne and Paul Hanshaw of Jonesboro; one brother, Roy Waldman of Sikeston; one sister, Mary Buchanan of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Chris Durham of Cookeville, Tenn., Leslie and her husband Bernard Reynolds of Atlanta, Ga., Ashley Lowney of Chicago, Ill., and Lauren Lowney of Trophy Club; and four stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Waldman and Bob Waldman; and one sister, Betty Faulkner.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Jackson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Graveside military honors will be conducted at the Sikeston City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Durham, Bernard Reynolds, Hunter Hanshaw, Mike Buchanan, Ron Barnes and Edward Harshman.
