Rufus Alsup

AMORY, Miss. - Rufus R. Alsup, 87, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Sept. 14, 2001, at his home.

Born Feb. 2, 1914, in Tippah County, son of the late R.M. and Ruth Dollar Alsup, he moved to Amory in 1965. A farmer and cattle man, he was a member of the Amory Church of Christ.

In 1931, he married Nona Mae King who preceded him in death in 1989.

Survivors include: one son, Robert M. Alsup of Aberdeen; one daughter Joyce Kelso of DeSoto County; and three sisters, one brother, 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Sunday at the Amory Church of Christ with Philip Hathcock and Hoyet Hathcock officiating.

Burial followed in Haughton Memorial Park at Amory.

The E.E. Pickle Funeral Home at Amory was in charge of arrangements.
