Vennie Schaffer

LILBOURN - Vennie Schaffer, 96, died Sept. 13, 2001, at the East Prairie Nursing Center in East Prairie.

Born March 19, 1905, at Camden, Tenn., daughter of the late Samuel D. and Frances Caroline Helems, she was a member of the General Baptist Church in Lilbourn.

She was married to Walter Lester Schaffer who died Feb. 13, 1987.

Survivors include: one son, Millard Schaffer of Fruitland, Idaho; one daughter, Francis Conyers of LaCenter, Ky.; one grandson whom she raised, William Billy Schaffer of Wright City; and five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-3 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn.

Graveside services will follow at Mounds Cemetery near Lilbourn, with the Rev. Ricky Dunn, pastor of Grape Chapel Church of God, officiating.

Pallbearers will be: William Schaffer, Jim Moore, Jonathan Dunn, Stephen Dunn, Rick Dunn and Jeremy Hanlin.
