Marilyn Deaton
BLODGETT - Marilyn Jane Deaton, 50, died at 2:40 a.m. Aug. 23, 2001, at her home.
Born April 21, 1951, in St. Louis, daughter of Jacquline Jo "Jackie" Holder Owens of Cape Girardeau and the late John Jackson Mitchel, she was an assembly line worker for the General Motors Corporation in Fort Wayne, Ind., for 24 years and member of United Auto Workers.
On May 23, 1995, at Fort Wayne, she married Melvin Lee Deaton who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to her husband and mother include: two sons, Freddie Torrez and Phillip Torrez of Granite City, Ill.; two brothers, Terry Mitchel of St. Louis and Jack Mitchel of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Kathy Palmer of Brazil, Ind., Gail Johnson of Chesterfield and Shelia Ervin of Blodgett; and three grandchildren.
One sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call from noon Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Robert Smithey will officiate.
