Bud Douglas

LILBOURN -- John S. "Bud" Douglas, 86, died Oct. 17, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 31, 1917, in Hermandale, son of the late Leroy and Katie Howell Douglas, he was a self-employed farmer and retired from Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. in Marston on April 15, 1983. He was a member of the Lilbourn First Baptist Church.

On Feb. 5, 1943, he married Hazel Truelove who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Dwight K. Douglas of Lilbourn; two brothers, W.C. Douglas of St. Louis and C.B. Douglas of North Branch, Mich.; two sisters, Alice Wilson of Lilbourn and Lillie Mae Snodgrass of Grandin; and special nieces and nephews, Judy Streeter Riley, Scott Riley, Amy Riley McElveen, Grace Riley and namesake Douglas Payne Riley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, D.L. Douglas; two sisters, Laverne Sweet and Genevieve Lowe; and one infant brother and one infant sister.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Lilbourn with the Rev. Robert Medlock officiating.

Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Riley, Billy Streeter, Larry Truelove, Jay Truelove, Marc McElveen and Charles "Chug" Johnson.
