COLUMBIA - The Sikeston Standard Democrat received three awards in the Missouri Press Foundation's 1991 Better Newspaper Contest. Publisher Michael Jensen accepted the second place award for sports coverage and honors for two photographs by photojournalist Timothy Scott on behalf of the staff.Former Standard Democrat Publisher, the late Charles Blanton Jr., was also named to the Newspaper Hall of Fame.
