Raymond Rampley
JACKSON - Raymond Lee Rampley, 69, died Oct. 29, 2001, at his home.
Born July 3, 1932, in Belly City, son of the late L.E. and Verbie Morris Rampley, he was a 1952 graduate of Bell City High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea from 1952-1954. He was a member and past member of Excelsior Lodge No. 441 and member and past patron of Chapter 91 Order of the Eastern Star, both in Jackson. Also a member of Altenthal Joerns American Legion Post No. 158 in Jackson and the Jackson Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was serving on the SEMO District Fair Board and the Cape County Farm Bureau Board.
Rampley served on the Byrd Township Road District, was president of the Cape County Farm Bureau, Co-op Board member, Jackson R-2 School Board and was a board member of the Country Club Western Dancers. He had also worked as a volunteer at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
On June 8, 1956, he married Betty Sue Eakin who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stephen Kelly Rampley of Patton, Michael Keith and Mayumi Rampley of Jackson and Kevin and Leigh Rampley of Poplar Bluff; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Hecht of Jackson; five brothers, Charles Rampley of Virginia, H. Joe Rampley of Bloomfield, Jim Rampley of Bell City, Carl Rampley of Sikeston and Leonard Rampley Jr. of Bell City; one sister, Helen Winfrey of Bell City; and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Cheney officiating.
The Missouri Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
