Brendan McCrate
DAYTON, Ohio - Brendan Casey McCrate, 22, died Oct. 7, 2001, in Columbus.
Born May 1, 1979, in Oakland, Calif., son of Ann Louise McCrate, formerly of Portageville, Mo., he was the grandson of the late Joseph E. and Zelline Hobbs McCrate and Harriette Hunter McCrate.
He attended Holy Angels Elementary School in Dayton and graduated from Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton. He was a senior at Ohio State University in Columbus, where he was a fine arts major. He was a gifted artist who excelled in painting and drawing and also loved the outdoors.
Survivors in addition to his mother include: five uncles, Joe George McCrate of Palo Alto, Calif., Bob McCrate, Terry McCrate and John McCrate of Portageville and Thomas McCrate of Dayton; one aunt, Martha McCrate of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-uncle, great-aunts and several cousins.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Eustachius Cathlic Church in Portageville with the Rev. Henry Grodecki officiating.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Terry McCrate Jr., Parrish McCrate, John Charles McCrate, Devin McCrate, Ryan McCrate, Colin McCrate and Dustin Hayes.
