Geraldine Bartley

SIKESTON - Geraldine Bartley, 79, died Oct. 26, 2001, at the Clearview Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1921, in Baxter Springs, Kan., daughter of the late William Edwin and Virginia Leone Sayler Hiatt, she attended State Teacher College at Pittsburgh, Kan., and later attended University of Kansas School of Nursing at Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, the Kings Highway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the United Methodist Women and was a volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

On Aug. 5, 1943, in Camp Le June, N.C., she married Elbridge W. Bartley Jr. who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Elbridge W. Bartley III of Overland Park, Kan., William Edwin Bartley of Knoxville, Tenn., John Paul Bartley of O'Fallon and Robert Benton Bartley of Jackson; one daughter, Linda Ault of Charleston; and 10 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandra Schaller, associate pastor, officiating.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. William F. "Bill" Koch, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Elbridge W. Bartley III, William Edwin Bartley; Robert Benton Bartley; Ryan Bartley Ault; Nathaniel Rushing Ault and Christopher Clayton Bartley.

Honorary pallbearers will be: the United Methodist Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution and all wives of Methodist ministers.
