Ottis Howard

MATTHEWS - Ottis Wiley Howard, 80, died Jan. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 1, 1921, at Lexon to the late Clarence and Bertha Howard, he was a farmer. A veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Morley.

On Dec. 16, 1959, in Sikeston, he married Dorothy Flint, who preceded him in death in 1995.

Survivors include: three sons, Alan Howard and Clarence Howard of Lilbourn and David Howard of Dexter; one daughter, Marceline Hunt of Marston; two brothers, J.L. Howard of Florence and Tollie Howard of Sikeston; four sisters, Venece Hickerson of Cedar Hill, Elouise Bell of Bellview, Sue Roper of Advance and Celeste Alexander of Cape Girardeau; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One son, Dennis Howard, and two sisters and one brother also preceded him in death.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Murrell Duffie will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
