Curt Evans

SIKESTON - Curt Evans Jr., 57, died at 11:10 a.m. Nov. 5, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Born Jan. 1, 1944, in Delmar, Ala., son of the late Alfred Curtis and Ina Mae Byrd Evans Sr., he was an oven operator for Bunny Bread for 33 years. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

On July 8, 1967, in Sikeston, he married Grace Elaine Cole Evans who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert Allen Byrd of Portland, Ore., and Steven Wayne Evans of Sikeston; one daughter, Melissa Gail Evans of the home; five brothers, Jack Evans, Bobby Evans and Terry Evans of Sikeston, Travis Evans of Kopeli, Hawaii, and Larry Evans of Wilamina, Ore.; three sisters, Ruby Starks of St. Louis and Carolyn Evans and Jackie Day of Sikeston; and one grandson, Tyler Michael Evans.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Curtis True, pastor of Church On the Rock, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
