Maggie Groves

CHAFFEE - Maggie Groves, 86, died at 3:54 a.m. Jan. 27, 2002, at her daughter's home in Zalma.

Born Feb. 27, 1915, in Diehlstadt, daughter of the late Robert and Sophia Stuppy McBride, she was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Daughters of St. Ambrose and Chaffee VFW Post 3127 Ladies Auxiliary.

On Feb. 5, 1935, she married Ollie R. Groves who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1982.

Survivors include: one son, Richard O. Groves of Florissant; one daughter, Patty Fussell of Zalma; one sister, Goldy Asher of Chaffee; and eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by three daughters, five brothers and one sister.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
