Ivie Lewis
SIKESTON - Ivie E. Lewis, 98, died Dec. 5, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 27, 1902, near Cumberland City, Tenn., son of the late Richard and Mary Jane Lewis, he was of the Methodist belief. He moved with his family from Indian Mound, Tenn., to Sikeston in 1918 and worked at the Sikeston International Shoe Factory for 15 years. Then he bought his farm and enjoyed raising crops for many years.
On March 22, 1925, he married Myrtle Allard who preceded him in death on May 23, 1991.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy E. Keller of Sikeston; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Geraldine Lewis of Sikeston; nine grandchildren, Patricia Lewis, Marilyn Barnes and Sharon Green of Sikeston, Nancy Alsup of Springfield, William Lewis of New Madrid, Gerald Lewis of Mayfield, Ky., Mike Guess of Denver, Colo., Steve Guess of Vail, Colo., and Linda Russell of Grants, N.M.; and 18 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Lee Fansler, pastor of the Blodgett Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
