Jack Haney

SCOTT CITY - M.L. "Jack" Haney, 74, died at 10:55 p.m. Dec. 30, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 1, 1927, at Plant City, Fla., to the late Elvirdia Ditto and Virgil Lee Haney, he retired in 1980 as an engineer with the Burlington-Northern Railroad and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

On Nov. 13, 1943, at Jackson, he married Muriel Charlotte Hirte, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Jack Haney of St. Peters; one daughter, Sandy Meystedt of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Virgil Haney of New Jersey; two sisters, Ann Kurley of Orland Park, Ill., and Juanita McClain of Chaffee; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Watis Harrell will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
