Joan Allender
SIKESTON - Joan Allender, 60, died at 4:45 a.m. Jan. 30, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Feb. 9, 1941, in Parma, daughter of Opal Smith Hamlin Maack of Sikeston and the late Thomas J. Hamlin, she had been a waitress for the Kwan Yin Restaurant and on the Robert E. Lee Restaurant at the landing in St. Louis. She moved to Sikeston in 1984 and had worked for the Vanduser Gin Company and had been a waitress at the Sikeston Country Club. She was a member of the Vanduser Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her mother include: one son, Scott Allender of Sikeston; two daughters, Laura Kim Nagy of St. Louis and Angel Hutchinson of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Hamlin and Fay Hart of Sikeston; and three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
One brother, Jimmie Hamlin, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Glenn Rogers, pastor of the Vanduser Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Kesler, Chad Kesler, Brandon Allen, Keith Nagy, Dwayne Hutchinson and Louis Watkins.
