Velma Hill

ST. LOUIS - Velma I. Hill, 84, formerly of Sikeston, died at 6:55 a.m. Nov. 16, 2001, at the Beau Vais Manor.

Born June 26, 1917, in Marion, Ill., daughter of the late Norman and Georgia Henninger Summers, she was a lacer for the International Shoe Company for 40 years and a certified nurses' aide at the Green Meadows Retirement Home from 1993-97.

On Dec. 9, 1939, at Matthews, she married Ira "Buster" Hill who preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1991.

Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Gale Hill of St. Louis and Kelly Jo and Perry Holt of Sikeston; one sister, Anna Marie Dooley of Randles; two grandchildren, Andrew Holt and Tyler Holt of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday. Her brother-in-law, Ted Dooley, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
