Fritz Bles

SCOTT CITY - Fred Joseph "Fritz" Bles, 86, died at 8:44 p.m. Jan. 12, 2002, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 1, 1915, in Commerce, son of the late Ambrose and Mary Theresa Hess Bles, he was a blaster with West Lake Quarry. A member of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 6407 in Scott City.

On July 16, 1960, at Sikeston he married Llolav Summers, who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1995.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Helen Vetter of Commerce; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Olive Clavin will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
