Donald Rone Sr.

PORTAGEVILLE - Donald Dell Rone Sr., 81, died Dec. 19, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 22, 1920, at Portageville, son of the late G.W. "Son" Rone Jr. and Dora Klopfenstein Rone, he was a member of the Masons for 50 years having obtaining a 32nd degree and was a lifelong farmer and landowner in the community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Portageville.

In Sept. 13, 1942, in Portageville, he married Marium Bethel Girvin who preceded him in death on May 14, 2000.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Cletus Eugene "Gene" Rone on Aug. 8, 1997.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald "Don" Rone Jr., Michael Girvin "Mike" Rone and George "Lewis" Rone of Portageville; one daughter, Gean "Geanie" Rone Simpson of Portageville; one stepbrother, Thomas E. "Jake" Fisher of Portageville; and 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home where a Masonic service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Rhodes officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Trey Rone, Kevin Rone, Micah Rone, Justin Rone, Derek Hayes, Joe Elrod, Scott Wilson and Ardin Simmons.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
