Ray Taylor

PORTAGEVILLE - Raymond Eugene "Ray" Taylor, 49, died Nov. 30, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 13, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Raymond Eugene and Elizabeth Taylor Sr., he lived in Missouri for more than 20 years. He earned a masters degree in radio communications at Murray State University in Murray, Ky. A well-known radio personality throughout Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas for many years, he was manager of Radio Station KMIS in Portageville and was sportscaster for basketball and football games for New Madrid County Central and Portageville High School for several years. He was a member of Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Portageville where he served on the Board of Deacons.

On July 31, 1993, he married Carolyn Barnes who survives of the home.

He is also survived by his adoptive mothers, Dorothy Sikes and Robbie Taylor of Portageville.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at 1 p.m. at Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Anderson, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery at Point Pleasant.
