Sherry Stark

MAPLEWOOD - Sharon "Sherry" Byrd Stark, 52, formerly of Sikeston, died Nov. 13, 2001, at IHS in Valley Park.

Born Nov. 13, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late James E. and Betty Byrd, graduated in 1967 from Sikeston High School where she was a member of the concert choir. She directed the teen choir at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston while attending SHS and graduated from Bethany (Okla.) Nazarene College, where she directed the choir. An employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone in St. Louis for many years, she attended Webster Groves Nazarene Church and Manchester Nazarene Church and was a well-known singer at various churches. She had also performed the National Anthem for a Blues hockey game in St. Louis.

Survivors include: one son, Stephen Stark of St. Louis; four sisters, Phyllis Bliesner of Ashburn, Va., Ruth Catlin of Kansas City, and Dianne Turner of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Dr. James Byrd of Chesterfield; and one sister, Myra Byrd of Benton.

Services were conducted Friday at Webster Groves Nazarene Church. The Rev. Harold Lumley, pastor, the Rev. Steve Robinson and the Rev. Rick Needham officiated.

Burial was in Lake Park Cemetery in Maplewood.
