Berneice Lane

ESSEX - Berneice Lane, 79, died Jan. 31, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born April 23, 1992, at Grayridge, daughter of the late George and Lizzie Merritt McConnaughhay, she was a member of Trotter Church near Essex. She had been an employee of the General Motors AC spark Plug Division in Flint, Mich.

On Dec. 31, 1938, at Bloomfield, she married Harold Otis Lane who preceded her in death on April 2, 1996.

Survivors include: five sons, George Wesley Lane and Donald Harold Lane of Eugene, Ore., and Jimmy Dale Lane, Robert Ronald Lane and Timothy Raymond Lane of Flint; and 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond McConnaughhay; and three sisters, Mary O'Neal, Ruth Scowden and Maggie Pennington.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. David Hardin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex.
