SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Medical Center honored two of its employees recently.

Linda Rogers, personnel assistant, was voted "Employee of the Year." Gary Gaines, director of information services for Missouri Delta Medical Center, was chosen as "Manager of the Year" during this year's employee banquet. "I was really excited and very honored to be chosen," said Rogers about receiving the "Employee of the Year" award.

Rogers began working with the Personnel Department at Missouri Delta Medical Center almost six years ago and has worked in the personnel field for over 20 years.

On her career choice, Rogers said, "I just enjoy working with the public." Helping people is what Rogers likes most about her role as personnel assistant. Also she enjoys being a resource for current and potential employees. "I'm glad to be able to answer their questions," she said. "I love my job and everyone here has been super nice," Linda said.

Gaines has served as director of Information Services for MDMC since January 1999. When asked what he thought when he found out that he won this prestigious award he said, "I was definitely surprised!"

Gaines said he enjoys working with new technology and looking at what technology can benefit the hospital and its employees. "The first computer I worked on was the size of this room! Technology has really changed," he explained. "I enjoy learning what computers can do and trying to make them work when they don't always do what they are supposed to do! Every day there is a challenge, but I enjoy it."

A good manager is only as good as the people working for him, he added. "I would have not even been considered Manager of the Year without my staff."
