Jiggs McClain

BLOOMFIELD - Robert "Jiggs" McClain, 77, died Jan. 14, 2002, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Bloomfield, son of the late Orville and Gertie Herrell McClain, he was a plasterer in St. Louis for 30 years and returned to Bloomfield after retiring in 1981. He attended the Baptist Church.

His wife, Virginia Whitaker McClain, survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert McClain Jr. of Wentzville and Allen McClain of Cabool; one daughter, Pamela Pierce of Bloomfield; two brothers, Wilbur McClain and Ray McClain of Bloomfield; two sisters, Terzah Cope of St. Peters and Violet Vollmer of O'Fallon; and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
