WYATT - Hazel G. Barnhill Ward, 91, died at 5:20 a.m. Jan. 15, 2002, at the Charleston Manor.

Born July 31, 1910, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late James L. and Maggie Roy Barnhill, she was a lifelong resident of Wyatt, where she owned and operated Ward's Grocery until her retirement. She was a member of the Wyatt United Methodist Church.

On April 27, 1927, she married Henry G. Ward, who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1985.

Survivors include: her stepmother, Delores Barnhill Summers of Wyatt; one brother and sister-in-law, James L. "Jack" and Aloyce Barnhill of Poplar Bluff; and one nephew and wife, James Aaron and Becky Barnhill of Grandin.

One son, James Oliver Ward, also preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Charles Carr, pastor of the Wyatt United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Harold Norton, pastor of the Steele United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Glenn Hillhouse, Richard Hutcheson, James Conn, Richard Conn, Homer Oliver, Buddy Self and Lowell Nally.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Hunter Raffety, Polly Raffety, Marvin Soltes, Maxine Soltes, Louise Moreton and Paul Conn.
