William Thacker

PORTAGEVILLE - William Hershel Thacker, 88, died Nov. 27, 2001, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 15, 1913, in Selmer, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry and Edna Thacker.

In 1957, at Selmer, Tenn., he married Janie Spencer who preceded him in death.

Survivors include: four sons, Montise Thacker and Billy Thacker of Caruthersville, Lawrence Thacker of Portageville and Larry Thacker of Parma; one brother, Amos Thacker of Selmer; and 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Hoy Thacker, Dwight Thacker, Roy Thacker, Lloyd Thacker and Marshall Thacker; and one sister, Bertie Whitley.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Poole officiating.

Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
