Jesse Coats

SCOTT CITY - Jesse Oneal Coats, 84, died at 3:20 a.m. Nov. 21, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 16, 1917, in Fornfelt, son of the late Jesse Frank and Alta Oneal Coats, he was a locomotive engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad and U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A life member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, he was also a member of H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 of Cape Girardeau and VFW Post 6407 of Scott City.

On Dec. 7, 1941, in Jackson, he married Evelyn Rose who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Michael Coats of New Bloomfield; one daughter, Rebecca Huck of Jackson; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One sister preceded him in death.

Graveside services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Zackery Strong officiating.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City was in charge of arrangements.
