Edward Martin
SCOTT CITY - Edward Joseph Martin, 89, died at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 21, 2001, at his daughter's home in Portland, Ind.
Born Jan. 31, 1912, in Kelso, son of the late Albin Bishop and Ortha Blattel Martin, he retired as a fireman with the Cotton Belt Railroad and was a self-employed farmer.
On Oct. 14, 1933, at Kelso, he married Ellen Virginia Smith who preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 1993.
Survivors include: two sons, Irvin Martin of Illiopolis, Ill., and Gene Martin of Scott City; two daughters, Pearl Gowins of Portland and Shirley Beggs of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Arnold Martin of St. Louis; two sisters, Hermina Halter of Manchester and Irene Glastetter of Lake Charles, La.; and 11 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, one sister, four grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
