Donald Hopper
SCOTT CITY - Donald Lee Hopper, 71, died at 1 a.m. Nov. 11, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Girard, Ill., son of the late Clinton B. and Hazel I. Rigg Hopper, he was a machinist for 30 years at Richardson Manufacturing in Springfield, Ill. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City.
On Feb. 4, 1948, at Carlinville, Ill., he married Phyllis Irene Ashby who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Phillip Hopper of Chaffee, Larry Hopper of St. Charles and David Hopper of Carlinville; two daughters, Beverly Hazel wood of Marion, Ill., and Connie Eyer of Belleville, Ill.; three brothers, Robert Hopper of Ballwin, Paul Hopper of Daphne, Ala., and Burel Hopper of Santa Clara, Calif.; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One great-grandson preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where a prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Visitation will continue from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Girard where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Lee Rule will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Girard.
