Marion Mitchell

DEXTER - Marion Mitchell, 77, died Nov. 7, 2001, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Essex, son of the late Willie and Anna Ledbetter Mitchell, he attended the Hopewell General Baptist Church at Frisco. He retired as a line worker for General Motors in Flint, Mich., and served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

On Aug. 8, 1946, at Dexter, he married Virginia Lawrence who preceded him in death on March 22, 1996.

He and Sue Sides Joseph were married Jan. 16, 1999, at Essex. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike Mitchell of Puyallup, Wash., and Reed and Joyce Mitchell of Shoreline, Wash.; one stepson, Terry Joseph of Wappapello; one stepdaughter, Karen McHand of Olive Branch, Miss.; and seven grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Neil Mitchell; and one stepdaughter, Johnette Hurley.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Martin Goode officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
