Dorothy Merideth

SIKESTON - Dorothy C. Merideth, 83, died at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 10, 2001, at Sikeston Health Care.

Born July 12, 1918, in Kennett, daughter of the late Martin and Alvina Bles Menz, she was a lifelong resident of the Sikeston area. She attended North Acres General Baptist Church and worked in the Foster Grandparents Program in Sikeston for 16 years.

On March 25, 1934, in Malden, she married Owen Merideth who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1980.

Survivors include: five sons, Ira Merideth, Carl Merideth and Dale Merideth of Sikeston, Kenneth Merideth of Essex and Don Merideth of Dexter; four daughters, JoAnne Hardin of Kewanee, Karen Wade of Cape Girardeau and Jeris Goetz and Katy Howell of Sikeston; and 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

One son, one daughter, two brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren also preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Pat Hogan, associate minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
