Evelyn Roberts

NEW MADRID - Evelyn Roberts, 82, died Dec. 9, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born April 8, 1919, in Portageville, daughter of the late Bill and Nell Laws Hornburg, she was a factory worker for the New Madrid Garment Factory, had worked as an aide for the Beverly Health and Rehab Center and also owned a restaurant in New Madrid before retiring.

On Jan. 16, 1946, in Holly Springs, Miss., she married Willie L. Roberts who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, William Levon Roberts of Warrenton; one daughter, Carlotta Sue Kosky of New Madrid; three sisters, Opal Little of Coachville, Ind., Hazel Rathman of Hawk Point and Barbara Doris Babb of Lilbourn; two brothers, Murchel Hornburg of Hawk Point and Wyvon Hornburg of Eolia; and seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, William Hornburg and Marvin Hornburg; and two sisters, Marcel Warner and Nellie Carol Hornburg.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Richards Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Mike Swalina, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
