The Rev. Paul Faris
CHARLESTON - The Rev. Paul Faris, 75, died at noon Jan. 9, 2002, at his home.
Born Oct. 31, 1926, in Franklin, Ark., son of the late H.B. and Winnie J. Tadlock Faris, he was ordained into the ministry in 1954. He lived in Charleston since 1962, where he served as pastor of Trinity Pentecostal Church for 35 years.
He and his wife opened Faris Shoe Repair in Charleston and expanded to Sikeston in 1963. They operated both businesses until closing the Sikeston branch in 1991 and Charleston in 1994.
On Dec. 16, 1944, he married Dorothy Herndon who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Donald B. Faris of Dexter; three daughters, Lela Mae Tucker, Rose Marie Bard and Paula Louise Boner of Charleston; two brothers, Fred Faris of St. Louis and Buster B. Faris of DeKalb, Ill.; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Faris; and five brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jim Suits of Hodgensville, Ky., will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Paul Lee Bard, Joey Bard, John Paul Tucker, James Lael Tucker, Serena Donn Faris-Smith and Richard Smith.
