Ralph Phillips
ELSBERRY - Ralph Phillips, 72, died Jan. 8, 2002, at the Florida Hospital Heartland in Sebring, Fla.
Born July 7, 1929, in East Prairie, Mo., son of the late William Lottie and Ida Mae Black Phillips, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Phillips Electric in Elsberry for many years before his retirement. A member of American Legion Post 226 in Elsberry, he was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry.
On Feb. 1, 1951, he married Rovina Imogene Conyers who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Delores Jones and Deborah Gale and John R. Beauchamp of Troy; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Raymond and Dovie Phillips of Morton, Ill., Amos Phillips of Charleston, Ben Phillips of St. Louis and John and Maureen Phillips of Scott City; two sisters, Divola Wallberg and Delores Cook of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Jessica Jones and Shawnna Phillips; two stepgrandchildren, Tricia Hackmann and Angela Kempland; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Melissa Hackmann and Christopher Hackmann; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Timothy Phillips and Randy Gene Phillips; two sisters, Mary Alice Fuller and infant sister Mary Opal Phillips; and one brother, Jack Phillips.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Clay Boley and the Rev. Sid Werges will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Elsberry City Cemetery.
