Bessie Noyes

BERNIE - Bessie A. Noyes, 93, died Dec. 9, 2001, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.

Born Oct. 14, 1908, in Parma, daughter of the late Charles Plez and Amelia Nolan Bowman, she was a cook for Middlesmith School in rural Bernie and cooked for the Bernie School District until her retirement in 1973. She also ironed for several area residents and was of the General Baptist belief.

On Feb. 25, 1927, at Toledo, Ohio, she married Lincoln James Noyes who preceded her in death on April 27, 1975.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry Noyes of Bernie; one granddaughter, Yolanda Murphy of Tallahassee, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Murphy Robertson of Jefferson City.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Dixie A. Murphy and Faye O. Noyes; two brothers, Claude Bowman and Raymond Bowman; and two sisters, Ethel Garrison and Mildred Parker.

Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Bernie Cemetery with the Rev. Maxwell Lewis officiating.

Rainey Funeral Home of Bernie was in charge of arrangements.
