DELTA -- Nathan Seyer scored 23 points as Oran beat Delta 70-49 in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament on Thursday night.
The top-seeded Eagles saw their leading scorer, Ryne Wood, benched most of the game after suffering a broke nose. Wood finished with 11 points on the night as Oran improved to 11-3 on the season.
"Our kids came out and played good defense in the first half," said Oran coach Mitch Wood. "We're playing pretty good right now. Hopefully, we can continue to keep playing well."
The Eagles will now face second-seeded Scott Central in the championship game tonight at 8 p.m. Scott Central defeated Scott City in Thursday's other semifinal game, 82-73.
In Thursday's win, junior Patrick Friga scored 14 points. Tyler Cookson had six and Joey Bickings finished with five. Sophomores Garrett Roslen and Matt Seyer contributed six and five respectively.
"The sophomores can play," said Wood. "Seyer is starting to play real good defense on help side. (Roslen) has been sick, but he came back and played well. I'm proud of the kids coming off the bench and the job they're doing."
Lance Kinder hit two 3-pointers and led all Delta scorers with 16 points. Craig Bock finished with 14.
"Right now, I think we've got the right chemistry of kids going," said Wood. "The only negative thing that happen tonight was Ryno getting his nose broken. I hope he can adjust to that. He didn't shoot the ball very well after it happened, and that's something we've got to have."
