John Marks
SIKESTON - John Leroy Marks, 63, died unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born march 17, 1938, in Essex, son of the late Isaiah and Joyce Maxey Marks, he was a graduate of O'Bannon High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He was of the Baptist belief.
He was first married to Gleneva Sims and later married to Arnita Wilkens.
Survivors include: eight sons, Ronald Marks, Donald Marks, John Marks Jr. and Willie K. Marks of Columbia, Brian Marks of St. Louis, Roderick Marks and Craig Marks of Sikeston and Danny Marks of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Arnetha Burks of St. Louis, Joetta Washington and Sonja Edwards of Atlanta and Sharon K. Richardson of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Isiah Marks Jr. of Inkster, Mich.; four sisters, Alice Sims and Elvia J. Marks of Inkster, Bertha Bonner of Atlanta and Donna Morgan of Sikeston; and 30 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon Monday until service time at 1 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston with the Rev. Victor Williams, officiating.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the National Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
