Maude Kurtz

SCOTT CITY - Maude Lee Kurtz, 97, died at 8:35 a.m. Dec. 12, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 9, 1904, in Esto, Ky., daughter of the late Dudley and Myrtie Hudson Grider, she was a riverboat cook and member of Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City.

On June 28, 1925, in St. Louis, she married Alfred T. Kurts who preceded her in death on June 10, 1978.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Richard Kurtz in 1950; two brothers; five sisters; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: one grandson, Alfred Kurtz of Scott City; four granddaughters, Mary Davis of Cape Girardeau, Helen Wills of St. Peters, Linda Pattengill of Benton and Pam Howell of Scott City; 14 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Dennis Bell, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
