Mamie Starkey

WHITEWATER - Mamie M. Starkey, 68, died at 9:40 p.m. Feb. 26, 2002, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 18, 1933, in Egypt Mills, daughter of the late L.A. and Minnie Fornkohl Myer she was an inspector for the Florsheim Shoe Company, first in Chaffee and later in Cape Girardeau, before retiring and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church near Gordonville.

On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Cecil Starkey who survives of Whitewater.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael Starkey of Jackson and Steve Starkey of Leopold; three daughters, Brenda Stevens Dodd of Jackson, Connie Thorne of Benton and Diana Horn of Whitewater; and nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One daughter also preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Friday until service time at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church near Gordonville. The Rev. Wayne Schwiesaw will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Thomas Horn Jr., A.J. Horn, Keith Stevens, Bandit Thorne and Kenny Thorne.
