Lester DePriest

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Lester L. DePriest, 73, died July 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Born June 16, 1929, in Inkster, Mich., son of the late James and Claudia Turner DePriest, he was a distributor with Tom's Snack Foods for more than 35 years before retiring and was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

In 1947, at Charleston, he married Betty Holley who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: five sons and three daughters-in-law, Timothy DePriest of Cape Girardeau, George L. and Marilyn DePriest of Park Hills, Steven DePriest of Cape Girardeau, David and Micki DePriest of Farmington and Mark and Pam DePriest of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Joe Hoffmeister of Millersville; one sister, Evangeline DePriest of Charleston; one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Polly DePriest of Cookeville, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one stepsister.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. Dr. Derek Staples will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
