SIKESTON - Ralph "J.C." Tidwell, 88, died Aug. 6, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born June 12, 1914, in Sikeston, son of the late Frank and Maggie Whalen Tidwell, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston. He was a mechanic for Mitchell-Sharp Chevrolet for 35 years before retiring.

On Dec. 22, 1934, he married Violet Holifield who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Hazel Tidwell and Phil and Beth Tidwell of Sikeston and Dennis and Beverly Tidwell of Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters, Maxine Winters of Sikeston and Glenda Tidwell of Kirkwood; six grandchildren, Brad Tidwell of Marion, Ark., Leslie Corley of Cordova, Tenn., Amy Tidwell of St. Louis, Phillip Tidwell of Sikeston and McKenzie Tidwell and Jessica Tidwell of Bloomington; and four great-grandchildren, Madeline Corley and Abigail Corley of Cordova and Jackson Tidwell and Audrey Tidwell of Marion, Ark.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Malcolm Tidwell, Hayes Tidwell and Elvis Tidwell; and two sisters, Eunice Rudd and Eva Strayhorn.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. David Jackson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
