Bural Samons
FAIRDEALING - Charles "Bural" Samons, 82, formerly of Mississippi County, died at 4:10 a.m. July 8, 2002, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Supply, Ark., son of the late James and Lola Hayes Samons, he was a member of Bridges United Methodist Church. He was employed with Drake Farms in Mississippi County for 38 years before retiring.
In August 1938, he married Ann Marie Helms who preceded him in death on June 8, 1993.
Survivors include: one son, Charles "Bural" Samons Jr. of Bertrand; four daughters, Dorothy Maxine Bozeman of Fairdealing, Bessie Marie Smith of Benton, Doris Davis of Kennett and Donna Carter of Charleston; six brothers, Danny Samons of San Rafael, Calif., Doyle Samons of Ann Arbor, Mich., Pete Samons of Grass Valley, Calif., Lester Samons of Vandalia, Ohio, Chester Samons of Branson and Roy Lee Samons of Lambertsville, Mich.; three sisters, Mural Clark of Lebanon, Daphane Brown of Tulsa, Okla., and Vernell Walker of Poplar Bluff; and 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Tommy Samons, Jimmy Samons Jr., Arthur C. Samons and Albert Samons; and two great-grandsons.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jim Quist, pastor of the Bridges United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Randy Davis, Michael Smith, Mark Smith, John Smith, Brandon Shands and Todd Wilkerson.
