Melvin Robinson

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. - Melvin Gerald Robinson, 75, formerly of Portageville, Mo., died June 4, 2002, in Florida.

Born Jan. 28, 1927, in Monette, Ark., son of the late Bill and Beulah Robinson, he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1979 as an electric crew foreman from Pacific Gas and Electric in California and recently retired from general contracting.

On Aug. 9, 1946, he married Geneva Ruth Davis who preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1995.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Karen Robinson of Missouri; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Donna and Ken Campbell of California and Pat and Gene Hollingshead, Edna and Harvey Dry and Cathy Napier of Missouri; three sisters, Vella Bea Moody, Suzanne Hartlein, Dianne Fuller of Missouri; one brother, Calvin Robinson of Mississippi; and eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Portageville with the Rev. Dr. Mark Inman officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were: Louis Daugherty, Gary Baker, Melvin Johnston and J.K. Swilley.
