SCOTT CITY - Eddie Earl Laws Sr., 53, died at 2:25 p.m. July 7, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 31 1950, in Portageville, son of Mildred Lovell of Portageville and the late Lee Laws, he retired as a plant supervisor for Industrial Fuels and Resources. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City.

On July 25, 1969, at Portageville, he married Patricia Ann Durbin who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two sons, Eddie Laws Jr. of Jackson and Adam Laws of Scott City; two daughters, Lee Ann Blankenship and Holly Reed of Scott City; one brother, Kendall Laws of Portageville; three sisters, Kay Blanchett of Burfordville, Helen Lane of Portageville and Carolyn Pruitt of Michigan; and 10 grandchildren.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where parish prayers at 7 p.m. will be followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 7:15 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. James Seyer officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
