SIKESTON - The exciting announcement was made at the Rotary Club meeting at the Rustic Rock Inn last night that Jeanette Sue Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Avelle Williams of Sikeston, would be given the club's $160 scholarship at Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau next fall.

SIKESTON - Two-time defending champion Jay's Fried Chicken of the National gained sole possession Tuesday night in Sikeston Little League baseball. After dropping two out of the last three games, Jay's got three hits from Robin Butler while Jay Lancaster and Butler fashioned a four-hitter to defeat Mercantile Bank 9-5.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Ladies Golf Association will host its annual Invitational Tournament on July 26. The cost for the two-lady scramble is $40 per team. The entry fee includes lunch and prizes. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. This tournament is not limited to Sikeston Country Club members, so invite your friends.

BELL CITY - Heather O'Reilly was crowned queen of the Miss Bell City pageant which was conducted recently in the Bell City gymnasium. Her court included: Amy Brown, first alternate; Anna Rapert, second alternate; Stacy Cox, third alternate; and Felisha Shelby, fourth alternate.
