Lawson claims karate tourney titles

SIKESTON - Sikeston's Shannon Lawson recently won several events on the Midwest Karate Tournament circuit.

In April, she took first at the Pearl of the Plains National Karate Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. In May, she took first at the Tornado Internationals in Kansas City.

In June, she moved up to the advanced division and took first at the Bluegrass Nationals World Karate Championships held in Louisville, Ky.

She is also instructing a women's self defense class at Armstrong's Tae Kwon Do.
