Anna Bidewell
ADVANCE - Anna Jenkins Bidewell, 93, died Sept. 5, 2002, at the Advance Nursing Center.
Born March 21, 1909, near Advance, daughter of the late William and Maude Helderman Jenkins, she was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and youth director. A member and past president of the Wednesday Study Club, she was also a member and past matron of the Advance Chapter 412 Order of the Eastern Star. In 1968 she served as deputy grand matron of the 50th District Grand Chapter of Missouri OES, for which she also served as grand representative for three years. She was a member and past president of the Ladies Scottish Rite of Cape Girardeau and was instrumental in organizing the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Memorial Association, for which she was treasurer for 13 years.
On April 12, 1928, near Bloomfield, she married Glen Bidewell who preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1971.
One sister, Myrtle Hitt, survives of Advance.
Three sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home, where Order of the Eastern Star rites are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Advance with the Rev. Tom Zych officiating.
Burial will follow in Morgan Memorial Park.
